Elizabeth (Betty)'s Story
I played the flute in the high school band and in the Baltimore All County Orchestra for 5 years, first chair for a couple of those. I enjoyed school sports, swimming, and spring board diving, but not very good with the diving. I love watching college football games in the fall.
I have a twin sister Peg and older sister Kay. We spent our summer days at Stoneleigh Pool during our elementary years. Peg & I hung out at Meadowbrook Swim Club during our teen years where we had spring board diving lessons 5 days a week. I worked in the ticket cage the summer of 63 & gave private swimming lessons.
While attending VA Intermont, I was fortunate to receive 5 credits taking Europeon History and traveling with the class in Europe for 6 weeks. While on the French Riviera in Nice, I met a handsome GA Tech Navy midshipman who became my husband in 1966. We were married 41.5 years. He died November 13, 2008 after battling dementia for 10 years. He was 65.
We have 2 grown children (Christy & TJ) and 2 grandsons (Dereck & Patrick). Terry flew A6-A Intruder jets during the Vietnam war, and we moved a lot,...Expand for more
living in GA, VA, CA (where he got his Master's Degree) and most of his miiitary life on Whidbey Island, WA,
We settled in the suburbs of Seattle and have lived here for 29 years. My grown children live within 7 and 13 miles of me respectively, for which I am very thankful.
I was fortunate enough to have been the traditional homemaker, raising my children, enjoying preparing creative meals, gardening, and worshiping the Lord with my family.
About 10 years ago, I started working full time. I have loved my jobs, and sadly have had to retire early from my most current job due to economic times. I worked for Olive Crest Homes & Services for Abused & Neglected Children. It was very rewarding, and I learned so much during my years working there. Currently, I am volunteering to continue working on the Fostering Together web site, a contract between the State and Olive Crest.
I have not decided what is next, but being on Facebook and Classmates is a new experience for me. I hope I can reconnect with friends with whom I have lost contact. And this is a summary of my life over the past 47 years.
